You all know by now that nothing gets me quite so excited as a good list of book recommendations! And that is why it was such a joy to come across this stellar list of Beautiful Books for Easter Baskets:
I think it’s a lovely idea to include some books in your children’s Easter baskets. And a great bonus to this idea is that it can be entirely free; if you go to the library next week and pick up a few of these to surprise your children with on Easter, that can be just as exciting as buying them and giving them to keep.
In my family growing up, my mother would hide our Easter baskets filled with chocolate and jelly beans somewhere in the house and we would hunt all over for them. It was a small and easy tradition, and yet something we all looked forward to every year. I’ve carried on the tradition for my own children, albeit moving it to Easter Monday since Easter Sunday itself is usually spent at church and with extended family. This year, I plan to add the tradition of a few books to the baskets. My four daughters were each born in a different season, so for this year I am slipping one of the seasonal Flower Fairies books into each of their baskets, along with the other Easter books we already own. Then, if we continue the tradition every year, we will build up a great collection of Easter and spring books that they can look forward to almost as much as the chocolate eggs.
I hope the book list above inspires you to collect a few new books, even just from the library, and include them in your kids’ Easter baskets this year.
It is so neat you have 4 seasons of birthdays! My boys were all born in spring.
